Trackbacks have been instrumental in helping me find out what bloggers find interesting here. I also use trackbacks to let other bloggers know what I like on their sites. I need to strengthen my use of trackbacks, in order to build more organic linking, so I will definitely keep working on this more in the future.Trackbacks are perhaps the second most important way to generate traffic to your site. If someone sees that you have left a trackback on an interesting or pillar post elsewhere, they will probably visit your site to see what you had to say about it. If you can expand on what you have already read and add some additional insight OR argue against the original posting, you may attract new readers!

Do you know that those two hurricanes, Katrina and Rita, hit a couple of years ago? Insurance is still dragging their feet. Now, so is congress. There needs to be some type of insurance reform so that what happened in Lousiana, Mississippi and Alabama does not happen again. The recent storms in the midwest which have caused floods in many areas, have brought the focus back to the congress to do something about the insurance companies. The big issue here is that the taxpayers are footing the bill again. Insurance companies are trying to cry about how much money goes out. Well, boohoo. They certainly are there when the premiums need to be paid. Funny how they aren’t ready to pay when there is a need. I really dislike insurance companies. I think they are blood suckers that used to have a real use in the world. Now, I’m not so sure. People pay to these companies and pay and pay and pay the premiums. They threaten to cut of coverage if you do not get that premium in in time. But if you actually need them, it had better not be for flooding damage. They don’t want to pay out for that.The rest of this is totally confusing to me. The National Flood Insurance Program started in 1968. This program was supposed to relieve the homeowners and the federal government from having high costs. Homeowners were supposed to be able to have flood insurance through this program.The unfortunate way that congress will reform is to make sure the rates are raised on the policy holders. Why don’t they change the way the insurance companies and the federal program work so that the homeowner doesn’t lose and neither do the taxpayers? I admit this is a confusing mess to me.

I thought long and hard about what I could tell you that you do not already know and it simply did not come to me. So, I will give you a few tips on blogging that might help you along the bloggers highway. Yeah. Well, if only somebody had told me a couple of the things I will tell you, I would have been a lot farther along than I am right now. So, here are just a few things that I learned as I went.

1) When you set up a blog, try to find a pleasant background. I first started with plain backgrounds and they were, oh, so boring! A boring blog will not get attention.

2) Blog on things that you know about and are passionate about, have experiences with or whatever you have an expertise in. What do you love? Write about parenting skills, money saving, politics (like and don’t like), how to wallpaper a room, you name it, you can blog about it. Got an idea that would help your readers to cope? Write about that. Try to make the subject something that people will actually be interested in…that is, if you want readers. If not, just blog. It won’t matter.

3) This might just fit into the previous tip but give your blog a theme. It will have to fit your content to at least some extent. For instance, my blog is about Arkansas views. I use a woodsy type atmosphere because Arkansas is like that near where I live. But you can do about anything with your theme. Whatever fits you!

4) Be sure to post frequently. If you don’t, the blog sort of sits there. If you want to get and keep readers, you must give them something to read.

5) Find people who have other blogs that are like yours and link to them. Give them your “linky love”. It all helps the readership. You may have heard about Google Page Rank. If you want a good number, you must get that linking to others done.

6) Try to be different in your blogging. I realize that it isn’t easy because of how many blogs are out there but put your personality into the blog. That will make it unique.

7) Enjoy your readers. Ask them to comment, read the comments and then thank them for visiting, like I do. Let them know that you care about what they have to say.

8 ) DON’T put endless ads on the blog. If you sign up for every money making thing out there, you will have littered your blog with advertising. I’ve seen a few of those. It’s almost impossible to find the posts among all the ads.

9) Don’t let your blog get bogged down in blah blah blah. I know that your aunt Mabel might have two heads instead of one but does anyone want to know about that? Maybe Guiness. If it isn’t interesting, they won’t come. Okay, we realize that your blog is yours. Do what you like but if you want readers, then you want to give them something too. Aunt Mabel can get her own blog.

A few years ago lending institutions would jump over each other with hopes of earning big profits from helping to sow large corporate deals. They would charge fees, interest and other services on the front end and then resell the debt as high-yield bonds and loans in the credit markets. They were making money hand over fist.
Tough times have now come to many of these large credit and lending houses. They have seen serious drops in income due to the crash in sub-prime markets and aren't so willing to engage in business deals without major concessions. This loss in profit is causing money to be tight, interest rates to rise and the will to take risk to be soured.Many of the loans that banks give to corporate investors and acquisition companies are not backed by federal guarantees. Therefore, many investors and loan brokers are not willing to take any risk without federal protection. Therefore, banks have a harder time making a quick turnaround on their investment. Demanding concessions helps them to keep profits.Home Depot was required to reduce their overall price 2 billion dollars in order to make the deal happen. The total price was lowered to about 8.5 billion dollars due to the problems in the loan markets. Each equity firm that is engaged in the buyout had to promise to put forward an additional 150 million dollars each, Home Depot committed to financing 1 billion dollars in dept and take 12.5% of equity.
Therefore in large acquisitions the company being sold themselves as well as the equity companies were required to make larger concessions that include the maintain of equity, self-financing, and putting up more cash. We often assume that workers are selfish people who want high pay and the least amount of work responsibilities as possible. The equation isn't so simple. There are other factors like culture, fairness, elitism, patronage, etc. that has a factor in whether or not an employee will want to stay within an organization. Consider some of the corporate bloopers below that have destroyed employee moral and led to high turn-over.
Highly Paid Slavery: You might be offering great pay but if your workers are engaging in 12 hour days/6 days a week they may consider moving on to another company. The higher pay is not worth their health, the dissolving of their families or the destruction of any semblance of normality. If you feel your workers owe you chances are they will give you the slip in the end.
Treat them Ignorant: Treating your employee incompetent or as though they don't have the ability to function properly isn't going to go very far with your employees. Many professionals have spent years in their occupation as well as in schooling. Treating them as though they are incompetent, ignorant and in need of micromanaging will frustrate them and lead to higher turnover rates.
Play Favorites: Consider an employee who is working hard and gets put on the back burner simply because a sexy new sales representative was hired. If the professional's years of dedication and work are thrown out the window for his boss's hormones it isn't likely going to sit well. Playing favorites can have all types of causes but its effects will almost always end in people looking for other jobs where they can be treated fairly.
Elitist Culture: Nothing is worse then to find doors closed because of business owners and managers with an elitist attitude. Those nice little golf outings, special parking, the ability to come and go as one pleases, bonuses, and all the other perks managers get can disgruntle employees. If they are treated as a lower class of people they might just act like it.
Disparate Pay: When managers are making two to three times as much as employees there appears to be some discrepancy in how workers are treated. All the "rah rah rah" speeches in the world won't help workers to feel as though they are being treated fairly when they are stuck in 3% annual increases and bosses are raking in extremely high wages. The boss shouldn't make over 30% more then his/her employees make.

First, Evening knitting: After numerous debacles with the Annie Modesitt Silk Corset Top, I think I've finally figured it out. I'm so glad I frogged the first one. I found a major error that I made the first few (or 4 or 5) times. I'm not talking about the kind of error where you realize that, oops, you have an extra stitch on your needles and you just k2tog to fudge it. Nope, this was one of those big 'ol mama, never going to be able to recover from, errors.I am finally reading this pattern the way it was meant to be read. Please don't ask me why I didn't get it the first couple (or bazillion) times around. What's that funny colored line going through the project, you ask? This time I got smart and put in a lifeline. Can ya see it? I figured that if I have to frog back, it's only going to be a portion this time and not the whole friggin' thing!I'm amazed at all the things that I am continually learning with my knitting. Not just new techniques, but really learning to read the stitches. As a self-taught person, I don't exactly do each technique the way others would, but the results are the same as long as I pay attention.
One thing that I've noticed is that when I'm working in the round, whether it be socks or sweaters, is that I knit through the front loop and everything is fine. However, when I work flat, evidently I do something a little wonky with my purling and end up having to knit through the back loop to keep my stitches from being twisted. I figure as long as I pay attention, I'll be just fine. I just have to be careful with those patterns that say to knit through the back loop and do the opposite. Does anyone else have these kinds of issues?

When the investigator looked in the wall plug, the two prongs left from the plug-in were still in there.Her sister-in-law had one of the plug-ins that had a small night light built in it. She said she had noticed that the light would dim and then finally go out. She would walk into the bathroom a few hours later, and the light would be back on again. The investigator said that the unit was getting too hot, and would dim and go out rather than just blow the light bulb. Once it cooled down it would come back on.That is a warning sign. The investigator said he personally wouldn’t have any type of plug in fragrance device anywhere in his house. He has seen too many places that have been burned down due to them.Luckily I stopped using these plug-in room fresheners a long time ago. I can’t imagine if all my stuff were to gone, burnt away.

game

I went playing golf with one of my buddies last weekend.It is my second time there at the drive range. I thought he would have gotten his golf clubs by now as he is quite keen at this game. Well, he is still using his friend’s golf clubs. He told me that his friend now hardly plays that why he can use it as much as he want to. We both bought 100 golf balls each to practice. I have never learn the proper way to play golf yet. So far I’m only watching how he does it and practice on my own. I don’t think I’m too keen on this sports to go for lessons yet.

Yesterday I was feeling quite positive about life, my marriage and my place in this world. Then, this morning, the inevitable happened, my husband woke up and barked at me about S's diaper. Apparently, she peed through and of course, it's my fault. He ranted briefly as I gave him the, "don't *f* with me" look. Then, I just *had* to shoot back that he always has a habit of pointing out the bad and not the good... blah blah blah. Let the ritualistic early morning verbal jousting begin.
As you can imagine, I was downright haughty about the situation and he (being backed into a corner by my anger) jumped on the defense bandwagon. It was a short bumpy ride because finally I stopped bitching long enough to realize that there wasn't anything to really bitch about. It happened, he pointed it out, I took offense and now what? Is it really worth it?
On the way to work this morning I found myself questioning why I made such a clearly wrong choice this morning. There are a million garden variety explanations such as; "I didn't get enough sleep last night", "He put me on the defense", and my favorite "I'm not in a good mood this morning." Of course, none of those excuses seem good enough. Though our moment of anger was brief, I am still annoyed by my reaction to the situation. Instead of humbly taking what he had to say, acknowledging it and then politely changing the subject, I headed straight into pointless-argument-land.
Naivety has the best of me at the moment because I foolishly assumed that this 30-day marriage challenge would be easy. I am for the most part a good wife, but I make mistakes and most of them have to do with my oversensitive nature. Sometimes, my D says things and I don't quite know how to take him. He is passive-aggressive and so most of the time I think it's his *nice* way of telling me how he feels. When I ask him, he says he's joking around and I need to lighten up. He's right. I really do need to lighten up.
I did apologize to him for making a mountain out of a mole hill with the situation. He said that he didn't say it to point blame on me, only to make me aware of the situation.

Due to the US real state crises we, Europeans, are being affected by all that crisis. I was checking my bank account on the internet and I just realized that my monthly payment to the bank for the house loan has increased again. It's the 3rd time this year that this happens.How am I going to survive...the money is not enough for the bills anymore.I've some medical appointments to come up in September and October, insurances to pay and I really don't know how am I going to do it.I wish I could have a smile plugin but as I haven't.

I’ve been running the Google Adsense Referral 2.0 Ads for almost a month now.It hasn’t been doing really well but then again, Adsense had never done well for me.After about two weeks of using them, I noticed that the referral 2.0 ads weren’t showing. So I took them down. I read in the forums that most people were having this problem too. But it seems like Google fixed it and it started showing again after a few days. So I put back the ads.
However, these past couple of days, it seems like the referral 2.0 ads are a bit buggy. There’s an option to choose the best performing ads in the adsense setup panel. Good decisions are based in research. Making major corporate or business changes without understanding the problem in its entirety can cost companies millions of dollars. Writing a business proposal is a lot of work. It isn't something that can be blown through like you were doing some detestable task. Instead business proposals require great amounts of thought, planning and writing that most managers don't seem to understand. The business proposal should answer fundamental questions related to the past, present and future of a new business solution.
The past, present and future are fundamental parts of the report. The past represents the problem, the present represents the solution and the future represents the long-term benefits of implementing the proposal. The person who wants to write a strong report which will have a higher likelihood of being approved and implemented should keep these important sections in mind.
The Past (The Background): The past talks about the nature of the problem, how much that problem has cost the company and any other difficulties the company faces. For example, if a retail store has a poor location the writer may discuss the high costs of the location, the lack of foot traffic, how long the problem has been going on and what marketing did to resolve the issue. The goal is to teach the reader about the problem.

We knew five of the actors and two of the crew. This was put on at a local community college theater and the actors were all great with really good singing and dancing. I cried in several parts and laughed in many. I really enjoyed the bottle dance and the visit from the "ghost".
In reflecting on some of the topics in the play, I think there is a lot to be said for tradition. But in the same breath, I'd have to say that change can bring good too. It often surprises me when I look back through history and see the people from "long ago" going through the same struggles we go through today. Sure, the settings may be different, but our humanity is the same. Our struggles with society, family, faith, friends and perceived enemies are perhaps more the same throughout the world and time than we often realize. And I really like the idea that each "of us is a fiddler on the roof trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck."

Its going to be an exciting year ahead for me, many changes are in the works, some make me nervous since I tend to be somewhat of a creature of habit and I don’t like change all that much, but on the only hand I am looking forward to many things, which include not having to get out of bed at 5am, and especially when its brutally cold outside.

Almost every night I would pray for each on of my children. Normally, I will repeat the same word in the first few sentences like “Jesus bless Annabelle with good night rest, sweet dream and healthy body.” The rest is whatever they requested me to pray for/about. One thing that has rather frustrated me recently is the tendency of certain large shops to jam mobile phone networks in their stores. Our local Marks & Spencer decided this might be a good idea. Now I am not enamored by the local shop after they were rude with me when I was standing near the women’s changing room while carrying things for my wife. However I think this whole mobile phone blocking has serious safety implications.

I am sure they shop will make some lame excuse about terrorism but I would suggest its empowerment to child molestors. Most small children have mobiles these days as a safety measure. busy

I have so much to do before I head out to the airport today. I have to write a few checks, clean my room, PACK, write up a couple of posts. It’s insane. I should not be rushing home, I shouldn’t. All my plans were contingent upon me chilling out here in Phoenix today. And I still have no idea if I can even MAKE my flight. It’s going to be tight, even though I am the highest priority non-rev passenger. That said, I KNOW I can not make the 4:30, so it would actually work to my advantage to be on the 9:30. That would give me the time I need to take care of business at home, but it will be frustrating if I get all the way to the airport, just to have to turn back around and wait. sleep

I don’t even have to take my medicine to make my feet go to sleep. I haven’t been able to fall asleep like this.. ever. Or if I have I was too small to remember but according to my parents I’ve always had issues sleeping.Anywho, being able to fall asleep is nice, I like it and hope it lasts but there’s a drawback that’s going along with it that has me up in arms and sorely pissed off. Not to mention super tired, blurry-eyed and head-achy.

I go to sleep, sleep for five to ten minutes then my eyes just pop open and I repeat the process until my cover is on the floor, my pillows are strewn every which way, the sheets are tangled around my legs like a freakish human-eating vine and I’m so mad I can’t fall back asleep.. sort of like now.

All I want to do is fall asleep and sleep for a few hours. Two full hours of sleep would make me happy but nooo, it’s not allowed. The evil sleep guardian and his sheet demons have set the sleepless spear between my bed and me and are refusing my passage.

I’ve tried rationalizing with them, squeaking out the disoriented plea for sleep, I’ve even tried cussing and throwing pillows at them, these bastards just aren’t budging and I’m tired of trying. I’m tired of fighting and leg pills and tylonol pm have done nothing to help. Maybe they’re on strike?

An RSS feed allows you to get the content of a website remotely, without visiting a site. If i like around 15 blogs, its not always possible for me to remember all the URLs of the blogs and visit them. What if there was a postman that would bring new posts from these blogs everyday to my desktop, thats an RSS aggregator, which fetches RSS feeds from various sites and parses and displays them for you.
